Summer isn’t complete without a visit to Montreal, made more special by a Cirque du Soleil show. Although there was no new show for 2025, they brought back a previous show which still felt fresh and was, as always, entertaining. We flew out Friday evening, but just stayed by the airport for a quiet first night.

Jul 19

We checked out of our airport hotel and headed into town after breakfast. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait for a room downtown, and we immediately headed out for a walk.

Although Just for Laughs had gone bankrupt, a smaller version with new owners was back with the old mascot

"The Ring" (L'anneau) in Esplanade Place Ville Marie is 30m in diameter and was installed in June 2022

Saint-Sulpice Seminary, one of the oldest buildings in Montreal, constructed between 1684 and 1687.

Being close to the stage, we could feel the cold from the water and appreciate how the added dimension challenged the artist

After the show, we walked around and grabbed dinner at a nice patio in Old Montreal, then headed back to the hotel.

Jul 20

I let Tom sleep in, and headed out for an early walk through a number of nearby neighbourhoods before Tom joined me for breakfast.
